Here at the London, Ontario School of Urban Krav Maga we practice and teach Urban Krav Maga. Krav Maga is a generic Hebrew term meaning “contact combat”. Urban Krav Maga, is a system founded by a group of instructors experienced across various styles of Krav Maga and other fighting systems. Urban Krav Maga is a scenario- based system, the syllabus being based on defenses against the 10 most common street attacks. These are based upon statistics compiled from the police. The core syllabus also contains a range of techniques applicable to female self-defense, grappling (stand-up and on the ground), fighting/sparring techniques and weapons defenses.

 

The techniques have been thoroughly tested, they are effective, simple and easy to learn. They rely on gross motor skills which remain effective under the intense stress of a real street attack. The training we provide will enable you to handle aggressive, stressful or violent situations with confidence; improve your fitness, and you will have fun while learning a useful life-skill. You will learn how to:

 

  • Spot the signs of potential trouble

  • Avoid conflict

  • Recognize the telltale signs of an imminent attack

  • Strike pre-emptively to defend yourself

  • Defend against punches and kicks

  • Defend against knife attacks, knife threats and gun threats

  • Defend against tackles, chokes, bear hugs and holds

  • Defend yourself and get back to your feet quickly if taken to the ground

Helpful information for training

Please wear appropriate clothing for training:
MMA Shorts, t-shirt, track bottoms.

Bring an energy drink or water for hydration.

No sharp items on clothing such as zips and buttons as they puncture the training matts
